Analysis on the Effect of Policyization on Glasses Online Sale Policy on Optical Shop Management

Abstract

|
|
Purpose : This study is to analyze the current state of the domestic eyeglass market and analyze the effect of online sales of prescription eyeglasses on the management of an optical shop, and is to draws implications through cases in major overseas countries where the policy on online sales of glasses has already been allowed.
Methods : To identify the concentration of optical shops by size and region, secondary data were collected and analyzed from public data portals such as the National Statistical Office and the Korea Customs Service, and analyzed major issues related to online sales of glasses in the eyeglass market of major oversea countries.
Results : If the policy on online sales of glasses is implemented, individual-independent optical shops are more vulnerable to market changes than franchise optical shops . Therefore, the gap in average annual sales per shop is bound to be large. In addition, the growth benefits of the domestic eyewear market are likely to be concentrated on large franchise companies, and the top five companies were more likely to monopolize profit approaching 40%. If policy on online sales of glasses is allowed, consumers in their 20s and 40s who are already accustomed to online shopping are more likely to change the way they buy glasses and try to purchase them online.
Conclusion : In this study, it was meaningful to analyze the effect of the online sales policy of prescription glasses on the management of the optical shop although actual information could not be confirmed except the secondary data disclosed by government agencies such as the National Statistical Office, and the data obtained from the secondary data were also in a primitive form.
